Training Workshops

Te Wana offers several different types of training workshops to support organisations and their staff with their continuous quality improvement activities and performance. These sessions are interactive and practical. 

Workshops are periodically held in regional locations throughout the year and UNITEC certification and learning credits may be gained as part of reviewer training. Go to UNITEC for more information.

Description of Training Workshops:

1. Review Cycle Preparation and Management
Designed for: Review Contacts, Managers and Board members

A Review Contact is a key person who facilitates and assists your organisation undertake the processes involved in the Review Cycle. They help organise the self assessment internal review process plus the preparation and hosting of the external reviews. They are also usually the main contacts for Te Wana along with the manager.

For the Service Development option, Review Contacts who also train as peer reviewers are known as Internal Reviewers and may form part of the Review Team and contribute to the assessment of your organisation.

Benefits:
The training offers guidance about how to effectively use the Te Wana structured resources and tools to manage the self directed process of internal assessment. It also includes tips for getting started, time management, encouraging motivation and participation. Review contacts, managers and Board members also benefit from meeting up with others and sharing experiences and strategies for managing the process.

Duration: 1 day

2. External Peer Reviewer Training
Designed for: Review Contacts and suitably qualified people

Peer reviewers are the people who carry out the external development and accreditation reviews. They are specifically trained by Te Wana in this in-depth, interactive workshop to explore the theory and practice of the External Review using the QIC Standards.

Benefits:
Peer reviewer training offers great insight into the nature of quality, evidence and quality systems. Participants learn techniques and skills for framing questions and interviewing as well as how to collect, assess and rate evidence, write review reports and recommendations.

Duration: 2 days - completion of the Review Cycle Preparation Workshop or learning module is a prerequisite for this workshop

3. Review Coordinator Training
Designed for: Experienced External Reviewers

External reviewers who have gained defined skills and competencies as a member of a review team may be invited to become Review Coordinators and lead the External Review Team. The coordinator training covers the expectations and responsibilities of the role, timekeeping, managing the process and teamwork.

Benefits:
Review coordination is a rewarding personal, professional and workforce development opportunity.

Duration: 1 day

4. Review Contact/Internal Reviewer Updates
Designed for: Internal and External Reviewers and Review Coordinators
This workshop aims to keep Te Wana internal and external reviewers and review coordinators up to date on developments in the quality improvement industry and any key changes to the Te Wana programme, process or review methods.
