Introduction

In 2005, Health Care Aotearoa affiliated Primary Health Organisations conducted a management support feasibility study to present to the Ministry of Health. As a result in May 2006, Healthcare Aotearoa (HCA) were successful in obtaining funding from the Ministry of Health to provide an Enhanced Management Service for affiliated PHOs and their practices. EMS is designed with the vision of encouraging and enabling small PHO sustainability. To achieve this goal EMS aims to support and enhance EMS member PHOs in areas of common interest.

EMS currently has six members:

 Canterbury Community PHO (Christchurch)
 Ora Toa PHO (Porirua)
 Piki te Ora ki Te Awakairangi PHO (Hutt Valley)
 Porirua Health Plus (Porirua)
 South East and City PHO (Wellington)
 Te Tihi Hauora O Taranaki (Taranaki)
