Advocacy.

Be part of effective advocacy to promote the not-for-profit sector in primary healthcare, and working for increased support for health services to Maori, Pacific, Refugees, youth and low income families. Cumulatively, HCA are offering primary health care to around 180,000 of the New Zealanders. We have had great success in recent times in becoming more widely known as a credible and significant part of the primary health scene.
HCA builds strong relationships with NGOs, Maori, Pacific, Primary Health Care leaders, Government, political and community leaders.

Treaty based Partnership Framework

Be an active participant in the ongoing journey of implementing a treaty-based partnership.

HCA commitment to this approach is reflected through:

  • the Executive (50 percent Maori )
  • staffing Te Kaihautu and National coordinator together lead the staff team
  • kaumatua kaunihera who guide the tikanga
  • our national hui that are hosted by members and held on marae.
  • our advocacy for reduction in disparities and promotion of an inequalities analysis

Maori members see in HCA a body of experience they can trust, and a source of practical training and skill enhancement which is of direct relevance to them.
