This means acting with integrity within the cultural context we find ourselves. We will be honest with those with whom we work, respectful that not all agencies and people are equally resourced. The exercise of compassion is core to our service ethic without surrendering objective judgement when meeting member needs.
None of this removes the responsibility of our members to accept accountability for their own circumstances. They are the source of their own Rangatiratanga.
HCA Aims:
1.1 to be a network of member services offering mutual support and encouragement to promote unity and strength
1.2 to provide a national perspective to member services in order to:
- share and learn from innovations and effective models of primary health care
- support the concept of community development and encourage community participation in primary health care
- liaise with like minded organisations
- promote a culture of accountability, quality and continuous improvement
- assist new community driven services to be established
1.3 to be an effective advocate nationally and regionally on behalf of the network striving to:
- promote the values and value of community driven primary health services
- ensure continued funding and a community focus in health planning
1.4 to provide member support and development services through:
- professional, administrative and managerial advice
- assistance with contract negotiations, staff recruitment and training and development of new services
- regular communication such as hui, newsletters and the circulation of relevant information
1.5 To conduct and/or commission research in the field of community driven primary health care
